Twenty four (24) days of planes, boats and trains. Travel is largely about the experience of places, people and food. Finding your way in foreign places awakens the senses and has been known to inspire as much as it informs. We’ll share what we see, hear and taste during the journey.
Our journey starts at home in South Africa. Murphy’s law, as we were ready to leave the lock of our suitcase somehow didn’t respond to the correct code again after I sealed it, but so what – it’s only 998 other number combinations to test and the airport is an hour away…

The Johannesburg airport perfectly represents the diversity of the country with a mix of the most up to date facilities and modern technology with a character and soul, reflecting the modern and the traditional rhythm of Africa.

Being the Festive Season, the O.R. Tambo International is decorated for the Christmas spirit. This includes the recreation of traditional “baobab trees ” and Rhinos with thousands of small xmas lights.
This is a vibrant airport with many foreign travelers, exotic accents and countless languages buzzing around.
